Often times, there is a disconnect between your company purpose and your people.
The purpose sometimes does not feel like it’s tangible or kind of within the context of the day-to-day work that your people do.
What I actually feel is very, very powerful especially today is video.
I suggest recording video, kind of impact stories of your business and its purpose, and basically making that a habit on a process that you keep and sharing that with your people.
There’s really nothing more inspiring.
I remember walking into the headquarters of a large auto manufacturer, and right in the center of the lobby, in the atrium, is a video.
The video was showing just the impact that their company had on these people’s lives.
And what does that mean?
Whether you’re working on a widget, working on a strategy, or working on people, you are able to see what it is that you’re working for on a daily basis.
So, I would highly, highly recommend that you make this a process and a very strong habit within your business to make sure you’re capturing these impact stories as part of your purpose, and even using it as an OKR (Objectives and Key Results), our for example, or a key result in an OKR system.
And making that just a piece of the fabric on how you operate your business.
