[...] Face time with other people IS really valuable, rare and expensive. Having meaningful conversations, getting advice from peers and tackling challenging issues is something that is good use of time. Using methods that are structured but leverage the “wisdom of the crowd” gathered are what unconferences are about After attending the Internet Retailer Conference and the Online Community Unconference 2007 last week, I’m really seeing the amazing value that Unconferences offer. They have the right people in the room and I’ve found them to be tremendously valuable as a dialogue of sharing rather than the one-way communication of ‘traditional’ trade events. It’s very much reflective of Web 2.0. If you haven’t been to one before, try one. -Web 2.0 business by James Key Lim [...]

I just completed the registration process for Gabcast today. It was pretty simple.

So you get 30 minutes free of calls. If you want to do conference calls past the first FREE 30 minutes then you need to purchase minutes in packs on this page - http://www.gabcast.com/index.php?a=account&b=minutes. You basically can buy 10 minutes for a $1 or $.10 per minute. Rates are charged per person per minute so, "For conference calls, minutes are calculated for every user in the conference. For example, 4 people in a conference call for 10 minutes, would equate to 40 minutes."

You can also upgrade your membership. It's actually not that expensive. Pro is $6/month and Premium is $12/month.

What was nice to see was that they have links directly into WordPress.

I did take a look at HotRecorder.com just be sure that it's not the right solution. I downloaded and installed, but GabCast still seems easier to use.

I have an interview set up later this week so I'll update how it goes.

hey pete, you're right about netvibes inability to rate and share articles... that would be a good feature add! it's a good question about how netvibes makes money. i'm not sure to be honest.

hmm. quick search shows that they got $15M last fall. that explains why no adds (for now).

http://www.techcrunch.com/2006/08/13/netvibes-secures-a-15million-investment/

thank you for sharing your thoughts.
